Children of Paradise

Summary of
“Child Rights Scenario in J&K”

Child Rights are the perceived human rights of children with particular attention to the rights of special protection and cure afforded to the young including their right to association with both biological parents, human identity as well as the basic needs for food, universal state paid education, health care and criminal laws appropriate for the age and development of the child.

Civilization as we know would be impossible without the active cooperation and contribution of each individual. But how many of us realize the importance of the fact that it is today’s child who becomes the leader of tomorrow. We cannot underestimate the importance of the budding flowers of our soil who are the future of the nation. But alas, twenty years of violence almost destroyed J&K in general and Kashmir valley in particular. Kids across the valley were the worst victims of the ongoing political turmoil. They had to face physical, mental and psychological trauma which continues till date.

The ongoing political restlessness shattered the hopes of thousands of children, making them orphans, homeless and many others were forced to leave their childhood and turned to be the bread winners of their families. They witnessed the era where bloodshed eroded their hopes and they were lost in the pool of depression and helplessness. There education was suffered due to financial instability and also because of the fact they were made to sit within the four walls of their houses due to the fear of political restlessness across the state. They were not given the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful days of their childhood.

Conflict Children
Mir Dawar

Consider him no mortal
A burial he could not obtain
Mere two yards of land
In his beloved lane

Imperative it is for conflict child
Only such thing they should state
That no one says anything bad
If something good they can narrate

Once librated from material
He strived and was known
Neither a cage nor a bullet
Could keep his captivity on hold

Those days were now over
When his anger, he would contain
Why would he be silent?
Why loose his honour in vain

His hear t and soul were present
Before the court for verdict
Neither his rights nor his dignity
They showed no existence

I won’t give my life away
He always used to say
Alas he could do nothing
Today they took it away

He said no one mourn him
Freedom itself would mourn
For no mourner of freedom
The world after him would behold

Infamous in this world
The conflict child is
For people know not
As to whom conflict child is

A tale about this Conflict child
I recite in front of u
How do I do?
What do I do?
